Engineering is the most popular way that people opt for as higher studies. It is the branch of science and technology concerned with the design, building, and the use of engines, machines and structures. It is the application of scientific knowledge and mathematical methods to practical purposes of the design, analysis, or operation of structures, machines, or systems.

India is known to be one of the largest producers of engineers in the world. In India, there are numerous engineering colleges which provides undergraduate and graduate courses in engineering, applied engineering and sciences. India produces 1.5 million engineers every year from 4000 institutes – more than USA and China combined. However, even with this pretty picture, most of the engineers in India are unemployed. There are various factors for this – First is quality of education, which, if not more than standard, would be disastrous for students. Second would be the fault in the way of teaching - the theory is given more importance than the practice part, when in the first place, it should be the opposite. The next one is the system of exams. The system places more importance on exams rather than frequent assignments, which makes students ignore learning the subject willingly. Other reasons, such as research, lack of exposure, professors, more supply & less demand, also play a somewhat relatively role in the development of engineering students of India.

However, the scene of this sector has been slowly changing and evolving and developing over time. Now, it is on the track to become a fully functional, effective, sincere way of education.
