About Us
The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Allahabad was established in 1999 by GoI, MHRD as a centre of excellence in Information Technology & related areas. IIIT-A has acquired an international academic acclaim and recognition.
IIIT-Allahabad, ushering into its Teens in the year 2012 has been steadily raising its academic graph higher and higher since its inception in 1999 and has been taking the academia by surprise by uniquely fulfilling its mission it was conceived with. The global academic firmament is agog with the feats of its spectacular performance year after year and its promise and poise to reckon with.
Located in Allahabad at the holy confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati, during 2014-2015 the Institute has ushered in its 16th year of chequered existence since its inception. During the short period, it has creditably exhibited its histrionics, has accredited itself in the array of the top-ranking international institutions of engineering and technology & allied areas. The Institute promises to play a crucial role to generate requisite high level technical manpower to meet National Goals in critical areas like Defence, Weather Forecasting, Space Programs, Microelectronics, Economic Development & Social Transformation and etc.
The institute is established in a sparkling new campus at Jhalwa, on the outskirts of Allahabad. The institute is situated on a campus of 100 acres. The architecture aims to transcend established design conventions and make a statement about the similarities between atoms and bits. Instead of the traditional geometric lines, the campus and other buildings have been styled on patterns developed by internationally acclaimed scholar and mathematician; Roger Penrose Its exquisite gardens provide a great escape to the exhausted. Its spacious facilities, remarkable resources, intimate courtyards, open lawns reinforce both the individual concentration and the group interaction that are critical to the transformational learning experience that the Institute provides. All academic, administrative and residential areas are fully air conditioned and connected to the Institute?s network (LAN) with 24 hrs services by 1 GBPS leased line.
